I've translated "aman aman (أمان أمان)" as an excalamation of "Lord have mercy!" in this context, because "aman (أمان)" is like safety or protection, and so it is a call to God for his protection and mercy from something powerful, could be pain or could be something positive but intense such as love. You could also translate it as "oh Lord" or "oh my God" or something along those lines.

To the best of my knowledge, this utterance is shared by most of the languages of the Middle East, that is to say, it is present especially in Turkish and also in Kurdish, Persian, Armenian, the language of the Balkans, Sephardic Hebrew, and if I'm not mistaken, Greek, in addition to probably other languages that I am unaware of. So even though we can translate it linguistically as something like "Lord have mercy" or "oh my God" depending on your particular English dialect, it should suffice to say that it is just a very commonly used exclamation for expression of distress or wonder in the Middle East.

I have this theory or hunch that, even though it doesn't have exactly the same meaning, the utterance "humana humana" in English which is said when you see an extremely attractive girl has it's origins in the phrase "aman aman."
